tallow

TALLOW IS THE RENDERED SUET (A TYPE OF FAT) FROM CATTLE. WAIT... WHAT? YES, IT'S TRUE. TALLOW STARTS AS BEEF FAT. BUT WE PROMISE, IT'S NOT AS CRAZY AS IT SEEMS. CHECK OUT WHY.

TALLOW FOR SOAP

Tallow has a long history in soap making for good reason. It has a fatty acid profile consisting mainly of stearic, palmetic, and oleic acids. These work together to create a moisturizing and long lasting bar of soap that with a creamy lather that gently cleanses the skin. It is well received by virtually all skin types.

TALLOW FOR FACE & BODY

Tallow's similarity to human skin give it an edge over plant based oils and butters. It can be used for all skin types and is readily absorbed into the skin without clogging pores or feeling greasy. It's fatty acid profile supports anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, and it contains vitamins A, D, E, and K (and really, don't we all need extra vitamins?).

TALLOW FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Tallow is renewable, sustainable, and biodegradable. It has a small environmental impact when compared with similar plant-based oils or beauty products. Because it's rendered from a by-product of the meat industry, tallow promotes efficiency, waste reduction, and regenerative farming practices.

TALLOW FROM OUR FARM

Our cattle are grass fed, pasture raised, and maintain a primarily forage diet when pasture is not available. We believe that happy cows make a better product, so we focus on ethical and sustainable herd management practices to ensure our cattle receive a good quality of life.

When we aren't able to use tallow from our animals, we make sure to source tallow from producers that treat and feed their animals in the same way.

    OUR TALLOW RENDERING PROCESS

We render tallow using a combination of wet and dry rendering methods at a low temperature as few times as possible. This process helps to remove the "beefy" smell while still retaining as much of the original vitamin content and fatty acid profile.
