WHAT'S IN IT
  • Grass fed tallow - Our grass fed tallow creates an ultra moisturizing, easily absorbing body butter that won't clog pores or leave you feeling greasy. It penetrates deep into the skin's layers due to it's unique compatibility with human skin and contains natural vitamins A, D, E, and K, all of which are beneficial for skin health. Tallow's fatty acid profile includes conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), an omega-6 fatty acid found primarily in animal fats from ruminants and known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which support skin balance, barrier restoration, and collagen creation. Tallow moisturizes, soothes, and protects your skin. It is suitable for all skin types.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil - Rich in vitamins (especially vitamin E) and beta-carotene as well as fatty acids that moisturize and protect hair strands.
  • Camellia Seed Oil - Conditions existing hair follicles while improving the health of the skin underneath. It can restore and replenish dry, dehydrated, and damaged cuticles along the outer layer of our hair, strengthens the strands and improves elasticity, density, and volume, as well as shine.
  • Coconut Oil - Commonly used to relieve dandruff, restore luster to dry and damaged hair, tame frizz, and protect hair against styling damage. Coconut oil is one of the few plant oils proven to penetrate into hair strands and moisturize them.
  • Broccoli Seed Oil -Lightweight, non-greasy and provides incredible lubrication to skin or hair, increasing the slip and leaving a silky feeling.
  • Castor Oil - this age-old traditional remedy for hair is thought to moisturize the skin underneath hair strands, reduce dandruff, and improve hair smoothness, strength, and shine.
  • BTMS-50 - Naturally derived cationic (positively charged) conditioning emulsifier that helps to condition hair, improve smoothness and manageability, reduce static, and make detangling easier. It's positive charge binds to the negatively charged hair shaft, creating a protective layer on the hair; making it particularly useful for damaged or treated hair. It feels silky and smooth on hair and skin.
  • Beeswax - Gives a light hold and locks in moisturizing ingredients for long lasting hydration on hair and skin.
  • Cetyl alcohol - fatty alcohol that adds body and light hold to the balm without feeling tacky or heavy. Helps to coat hair strands and lock in moisture.

We recommend applying directly after a shower or bath onto damp beard. Start with a small (emphasis on small) amount to avoid greasiness. Add more as needed. Work balm into beard and allow 1-2 minutes to absorb. For best results, use overnight. For external use only. Due to the differences from commercially made products, your skin may experience an adjustment period.

HOW WE DO THE THINGS

Our tallow products start by rendering suet (a type of fat from cattle). We render it using a combination of wet and dry rendering methods at a low temperature as few times as possible. This process helps to purify the tallow and retain as much of the original vitamin content and fatty acid profile.

We do not add bleach or other chemicals to aid in our rendering process... because ew.

Our tallow products are then created using tallow and other natural and carefully curated ingredients directly on the farm. During this process we continue to carefully monitor and regulate temperatures to protect the integrity of all ingredients. We focus on using ingredients that nourish, absorb quickly & have a low comedogenic rating, so they are less likely to feel greasy on the skin or clog pores

Essential Oils / Fragrance: Products that include the use of essential oils or fragrances are created with safety as top priority. Total essential oil and fragrance usage rates comply with IFRA standards of use and safety. We do not recommend the use of fragrance or essential oils for highly sensitive skin, and we do not recommend the use of essential oils for pregnant or breastfeeding moms or children younger than two years old. If that's you, check out our collection of unscented and/or botanically infused products.

Preservatives: Some products contain preservatives when necessary to prevent the growth of microbials. The preservatives we use are plant derived and do not contain formaldehyde.

Emulsifiers: Some products contain synthetic emulsifiers when natural emulsifiers are not available or appropriate. Emulsifiers are used to prevent product separation and maintain product integrity. The emulsifiers we use have been determined safe and non-toxic for topical use by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review.
